Hospital bed rental in Orlando
$250 a week for a semi-electric bed, $350 for a fully electric one. Delivered assembled and set up in the room where it will be used.
Most people reading this are arranging a bed for someone coming home from the hospital or rehabilitation center, often on short notice. Both rates below are the real ones. Nothing here is a starting price and there is no quote to wait for.

Work out which rate you want before you call
Weekly is not always cheaper than monthly, and the crossover is sooner than most people expect. On the semi-electric, the monthly rate costs less than weekly once you pass about 2.2 weeks. On the fully electric it is about 1.9 weeks.
Recovery almost always runs longer than the first estimate. If there is any chance of a second month, ask for the monthly rate at the start.
- Delivery and pickup are available at an additional cost.
Semi-electric or fully electric?
This is the question that stalls most bookings, and it is simpler than it sounds. These are home hospital beds, not the institutional frames you see on a ward. Both sit at the same fixed height, and both raise the foot on a hand control. The only difference is the head end.
$250 / week
Semi-Electric Bed
The foot section raises and lowers on the hand control; the head end is raised with a crank. A home hospital bed rather than the institutional frame you see on a ward, and the most common one we send home after a stay in the hospital or rehabilitation center.
Choose it when
- Coming home from the hospital or rehabilitation center
- Needing to sleep with the head raised
- Getting in and out of bed safely
$350 / week
Fully Electric Bed
Both ends run off the hand control, so whoever is in the bed can raise the head themselves instead of someone cranking it for them. The head end is the one that gets moved most (for eating, breathing easier, sleeping), and that is where the difference is felt.
Choose it when
- Adjusting the head end without help
- Changing position several times a day
- Sparing a caregiver the hand crank
So which one, in practice
The head end is the position that gets changed most: sitting up to eat, raising up to breathe easier, lying back down to sleep. On the semi-electric someone has to walk over and turn the crank each time. On the fully electric the person in the bed does it themselves with the control.
So it comes down to how often that happens and who is there to do it. If somebody is around through the day, the crank is no hardship. If the person is alone for stretches, or wants to change position without asking, the powered head end is the whole difference and it is $100 a week.
Delivery, setup and pickup in Orlando and Winter Park
- Delivered assembled and ready to use
- Placed in the room where it will be used
- Caregiver walkthrough before we leave
- Delivery and pickup available at an additional cost
A hospital bed is not a parcel. It arrives assembled on our own van, goes into the room you want it in, and nobody leaves until whoever is doing the caring has worked the hand control themselves.
We deliver across Central Florida from our Winter Park store. Same-day delivery is available on qualifying items. Whether a bed qualifies on the day depends on stock and where you are, which is the first thing we check on the phone.
If someone is coming home from the hospital, call three to five days before the discharge date if you can. Measure the doorway to the room and tell us about any stairs at the entrance; we solve those now instead of on the doorstep. When the bed is no longer needed, call us and we arrange the pickup.
Call (407) 270-7308Paying with Medicare or insurance
We bill Medicare, Cigna and Curative, and the rules are not the same across payers. What your plan authorizes depends on what your physician documents, so we check your policy before anything is delivered rather than guess from a general rule.
-
Step 1
Call with the plan
Your insurance card, front and back, or just the plan name, and the prescribing doctor's name and clinic.
-
Step 2
We get the order
If you do not have the physician's order yet, we request it.
-
Step 3
You hear your cost
We verify your benefits and tell you what you will pay before delivery. If the plan will not cover it, you hear that from us, not on a bill.
-
Step 4
Or pay the rate
If the bed you want is not authorized, the rate for paying yourself is the one on this page.
Medicare classes this as a capped rental item, so it is billed monthly rather than bought outright, and what happens at the end of the rental depends on choices made during it. Coverage depends on your plan and your doctor's documentation. Call us and we will check your benefits before anything is delivered.
Hospital bed rental questions
- How much does it cost to rent a hospital bed in Orlando?
- A semi-electric bed is $75 a day, $250 a week or $550 a month. A fully electric bed is $85 a day, $350 a week or $650 a month. Those are the rates we charge.
- Is there a deposit or a minimum rental period?
- Yes to both. A refundable deposit of $250 applies to either bed, taken at delivery and separate from the rental rate, and there is a 3-day minimum.
- Is it cheaper to rent a hospital bed by the week or by the month?
- On the semi-electric bed the monthly rate costs less than weekly once you pass about 2.2 weeks; on the fully electric it is about 1.9 weeks. Recovery usually runs longer than the first estimate, so if a second month is possible, ask for the monthly rate at the start.
- What is the difference between a semi-electric and a fully electric bed?
- The head end. Both beds raise the foot on the hand control. On the semi-electric the head is raised with a crank, so someone has to walk over and turn it; on the fully electric the person in the bed raises the head themselves with the control. The difference is $100 a week.
- Do the beds have rails, and does the height adjust?
- Both beds come with rails. Neither has height adjustment: they are home hospital beds rather than the institutional frames used on a ward, and both sit at the same fixed height.
- Do you deliver and set up the bed?
- Yes. Delivered assembled and ready to use. Placed in the room where it will be used. Caregiver walkthrough before we leave. Delivery and pickup available at an additional cost. When the rental ends, call us and we arrange the pickup.
- Can the bed arrive on the day of discharge?
- Same-day delivery is available on qualifying items, depending on stock and where you are. Call as early as you can and tell us the time they are expected home; we schedule the delivery around it.
- Will Medicare or my insurance pay for a hospital bed?
- We bill Medicare, Cigna and Curative. Coverage depends on your plan and your doctor's documentation, and a hospital bed is billed as a monthly rental rather than bought outright. We check your benefits before anything is delivered.
